A ZIMME Team Member Prevented a Major Fire Accident at 2:00 AM

A ZIMME team member prevented a major tragedy by extinguishing a fire that broke out in a kitchen at around 2:00 AM.

We are intentionally not revealing his name because he requested that we keep his identity private. We can only say that he is the person who designed the entire https://zimme.in website. Along with support of other team members who added content and products.

When we learned about the incident. We asked him to explain everything in chronological order. Based on the information he shared, this is what happened.

There are two reasons for sharing this incident:

  1. To help people understand how to respond if a fire breaks out in their home.
  2. To show that our team consists of educated, experienced, and responsible individuals who step forward to solve problems instead of standing back and watching.

How the Incident Happened

At around 2:00 AM, our team member was asleep in his room when he suddenly woke up because he smelled something burning, similar to electrical wires. He immediately checked his laptop, mobile phone, chargers, and other cables, but everything appeared normal.

He then stepped outside his room to inspect the rest of the house. Around the same time, his wife told him that she could see a fire somewhere outside, although she wasn't sure exactly where it was coming from.

He rushed outside and noticed residents from neighboring flats evacuating with their children. He quickly went downstairs and discovered that the neighboring house was on fire. Several people were standing outside watching, including the homeowner's son.

He asked where the fire had started, and the neighbor kid replied that it was in the kitchen. By this time, the Fire Department had already been called, but they had not yet arrived.

Realizing the seriousness of the situation, our team member asked the neighbor kid to guide him to the kitchen. The kid was understandably frightened. The greatest concern was that a gas cylinder was inside the kitchen. If the fire reached the cylinder, it could have exploded, putting nearby houses and apartment residents at serious risk because the buildings were very close to one another.

The Actions Taken

When our team member entered the house, two other individuals also came inside to help. Before taking any action, they followed important safety precautions.

1. Avoiding Electrical Hazards

Since the fire was in the kitchen, there was a possibility of a gas leak. Switching electrical appliances or lights on or off could have been dangerous. They ensured the electrical lights remained off and used only mobile phone flashlights to reach the kitchen safely.

2. Moving the Refrigerator

A refrigerator was positioned near the kitchen entrance. They first moved it away to prevent it from catching fire and blocking the exit.

3. Reaching the Source of the Fire

The kitchen door was jammed and would not open. It had to be forced open with a kick. After entering, they discovered that the fire had started because a pan containing cooking oil had been left on the gas stove. Someone had apparently been frying food over a low flame and accidentally forgot to turn off the stove. Over time, the oil overheated and eventually ignited.

4. Assessing the Damage

The flames from the pan had spread to the kitchen chimney and a nearby plastic water filter. The wooden cabinets above had also started burning. The room was filled with thick smoke and the smell of burning electrical wires, making it extremely difficult to remain inside.

5. Extinguishing the Fire

Along with another gentleman, someone our team member had never met before. They quickly brought buckets of water and carefully poured water over the burning areas until the flames were extinguished.

As soon as the fire was under control, the gas cylinder was immediately removed from the kitchen and taken outside the house. Meanwhile, another neighbor used a water pipe to spray the kitchen thoroughly, ensuring that no hidden flames could reignite.

At the same time, two other residents opened all the doors and windows of the house to allow smoke and heat to escape.

6. Final Safety Check

After the fire was extinguished, all the kitchen cabinets were opened because they had become extremely hot. They carefully checked for any hidden flames or hotspots.

Only after these checks were completed did the Fire Department arrive. They inspected the entire area and confirmed that the fire had been completely extinguished and that there was no remaining danger.

An Important Safety Note

Entering a burning building is extremely dangerous.

Unless you have proper knowledge of fire safety procedures and understand the risks involved, do not attempt to enter such situations.

Parents should teach their children basic fire safety and emergency response so that, in difficult situations, they know how to respond responsibly instead of simply standing by as spectators.
